Insulation
Are you
looking for some steel building insulation? As steel is a
very good conductor of heat, a thermal insulating barrier is
vital to keep steel buildings cool in summer and warm in
winter. There is a range of steel building insulation
products available online from many different manufacturers
so a little time spent browsing the Internet should help you
find the product that is right for your own needs. Here are
a few examples of what you can find without too much
effort.
1. Prodex manufacture a steel
building insulation material made of a closed cell
polyethylene foam layer bounded by 2 layers of
low-emissivity , priced at $214.95 a roll. A single layer of
Prodex Total has an R-value of 15.67, and a double layer has
an R value of 21.1. It reflects up to 99 percent of radiant
heat, and is also a highly efficient sound and vapour
barrier. The latter is very important because steel
buildings are highly prone to condensation. The
R-value of Prodex Total doesn’t diminish with age, it is not
affected by moisture, and it doesn’t either mildew or
promote the growth of fungal organisms.
2. At
Fomofoam [dot] com, Fomo Products is offering its spray
polyurethane kits for steel building insulation at a range
of prices, depending on the quantity of foam supplied. For
example, the HF605FR kit, which delivers 605 board feet of
foam, is $700, and the HF205FR, which delivers 205 board
feet, costs $360. These HandiFoam systems are 2-component
foam systems that cure much more rapidly than do
single-component systems. One inch of Fomo HandiFoam has an
R-rating of 7 and can often, particularly in Southern
climates, adequately supply comfort and reduce energy costs,
depending on what the building is being used for.
3. Fi-Foil manufactures a steel
building insulation material caller the Radiant Shield. Test
have shown that this heavy-duty, tear-resistant radiant
barrier reduces the cooling expense for buildings with metal
roofs by 11 percent. It consists of a 2-sided aluminum foil
combined with woven polyethylene, and it is manufactured
both with perforations, in which case it can be used as a
moisture barrier, and without perforations that will let
moisture through. Prices are available from the
manufacturer.
4. At
knafusa [dot] com, Knauf is promoting its Canadian Unfaced
Metal Building Insulation, which is a tough insulation
material consisting of inorganic fibers held together by a
thermosetting resin bonding material. This flexible blanket
steel building insulation is designed to be used either
faced, for example with a vapor retarder, or unfaced as
extra wall or roof insulation.
These few
examples of steel building insulation are an indication of
the variety of the products available. There are plenty
more, so it would be worth while having a look online for
yourself.
